BARRY'S best-loved community competition is off to a flying start with residents young and old looking to win the fabulous seven-day stay in San Francisco.
The chance to win a week in the States, two-day trip to Barcelona or a state of the art entertainment system has sparked massive interest in our Citizen of the Year Competition.
Launched on St David's Day, the project is now up and running and searching for those special individuals who make a difference every day.
We all know someone who does that little bit extra to help others without any thought of reward.
The Barry & District News, the Cardiff Road Industrial Complex and the town council would like to say a big thank you to those unsung heroes.
But, of course, we, along with our sponsors Dan Evans and Morris', need your help.
It's simple to nominate someone. All you have to do is pick up a form, fill in the details and return it by Monday, April 5.
Forms are available from the Barry & District News office or from Barry Town Council at Gladstone Road. You can also vote online by logging onto www.dowcorning.com/barry and clicking on the Citizen of the Year link.
The judging, by News assistant editor Sue Vincent-Jones, town mayor Jane Andrews and Dow Corning's Jonathan Coleman, will take place on Thursday, April 22.
Our overall winner will net a seven-night break for two in San Francisco. This includes flights, travel insurance, transfers, three-star accommodation and two city passes.
The second place nominee will receive a two-night break in Barcelona. This includes flights, travel insurance and three-star accommodation.
While the third-place winner can enjoy a state of the art LCD colour television, courtesy of Dan Evans.
All the entrants will receive a certificate and there is a luxury Morrisons hamper for the person who nominates the winner.
So don't delay - nominate today!
