Charlotte's ex appears in court

SINGING sensation Charlotte Church's ex-lover was in Barry Magistrates Court on Monday charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Steven Johnson, who gave his name as Steve, is charged with being found in possession of the kung fu weapon nan-chuk in the Knap on Monday, March 1 at 5.20am.

It is believed that the weapon was found in Johnson's Alfa Romeo sports car at the popular beauty spot.

The part-time model, who gave his name as Steve Johnson, appeared before the court dressed in jeans and a brown leather jacket.

The 19-year-old of Pomeroy Street, Butetown, Cardiff, spoke only to confirm his name, give his date of birth and address and to enter a plea of not guilty.

Johnson elected to have the case read in front of Barry magistrates and it was was adjourned until Tuesday, March 30, for a pre-trial review.

He was granted unconditional bail.

Charlotte Church, who is believed to have taken control of her £16 million empire on the eve of her 18th birthday recently, split up with Johnson amid claims that he cheated on her.

Charlotte is now said to be dating Kyle Johnson, a 19-year old trainee hotel manager from Ely.
