A BARRY man has slammed the police he claims falsely accused his daughter of travelling in a stolen car.
Brian Jones of Denbigh Way was horrified to learn his daughter was involved in an accident but his horror turned to shock when she was then implicated in the incident.
Fifteen year old Claire was sitting on a pillar in Victoria Park Road, Cadoxton with some friends when a car reversed around the corner and hit the structure from behind her.
She sustained cuts and severe bruising as well as an injury to her left leg.
Her ankle swelled up so badly it was thought she had broken it.
Claire was taken to hospital where she was told it was not a break, but she had to keep her foot up for 48 hours.
Police then took Claire in for a four-hour questioning session before she was put on bail. All the charges were later dropped.
This is not enough for Mr Jones. The bus driver said: "I want a written apology from the police for keeping my daughter in a cold cell for something she did not do.
He acknowledged that the police had to investigate the crime but is angry at the way it was handled.
Mr Jones is also upset at the effect of Claire's injuries on her schooling.
He said: "Claire missed three weeks of school because of her injuries and was on crutches for three weeks.
"This year is very important year for my daughter's education. As for the injuries, I shall be seeking compensation for them."
A spokesman for Barry police said: "If anybody has a complaint they should contact us and we will investigate it fully."
