Wreck risk

I am writing to say that I wish to withdraw my comments last week in defence of the Barry wreck. The risk it presents cannot just be dismissed as an "urban myth", as I had supposed. I have just visited the Barry Dock Lifeboat Station and have heard first hand from the crewmen there about the twelve or so call-outs over the past seven years, mostly involving children stranded or injured after playing on the wreck. Safety is clearly a more urgent concern than a picturesque hulk. Following the partial burning last week, however, the wreck is even more dangerous than before. A chainsaw might be a more effectual means disposal than fire, as the wood is thoroughly waterlogged.
