VALE Rugby is offering young rugby players and coaches the opportunity to further their skills through a comprehensive training package.
Through National Vocational Qualifications, Vale Rugby is delivering and developing the sport to all levels of ability, with particular emphasis on young people.
Programmes involve a comprehensive range of initiatives, including primary schools, girls, district squads and coach development.
And, in order to deliver these schemes, Vale Rugby is always looking for new coaches, particularly young adults.
Training and assessment is delivered through the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme for young players and coaches, and Vale Rugby also offers opportunities to achieve Activity Leadership (Level 2 and Level 3) qualifications in coaching, teaching and instruction and the key skills required by the occupational/professional framework.
l NVQ 2 - activity leadership - general sports qualification.
l NVQ 2 - coaching, teaching and instruction (rugby)
l Key skills - for example, communication, numeracy, IT and working with people.
l NVQ 3 - coaching, teaching and instruction (rugby)
l NVQ 3 - professional sports person (on line soon)
Vale Rugby works to national standards laid down by Sporttrain (Wales), Estyn, Elwa and City and Guilds.
Under the guidance and watchful eye of Vale Rugby trainer/assessor Wesley Pooley, Barry Rugby Club coaches Andrew Prosser and Darren Gibbon and Llantwit Major's Matthew Silva are currently working with Cardiff Blues' under-18s, using the NVQ system to help them into professional rugby.
