Love is in the air - and the window

A ROMANTIC Barry woman has marked Valentine's Day in proper Leap Year fashion, by proposing to her boyfriend - in a shop window.

Cerianwen Harrison, of Church Road, saw the British Heart Foundation's 'Love Notes' promotion as the ideal way to pop the big question to her boyfriend, Lee Ball.

The shop in Holton Road takes part in the BHF national scheme, where people pay £1 to display their Valentine message in the window.

Cerianwen, 27, wrote her note, asking Lee, of Winchester Close, to marry her.

She said: "The day I bought the loveheart was exactly six months after we started going out with each other. I took Lee to the shop. When he found it, he said 'yes' straight away."

UWIC student Lee, 21, who is reading a BSc in Business Information and Systems said: "It was a lovely thing for Cez to do. I went straight inside to buy a heart to reply, and wrote that I can't wait to marry her."

Manager of the Holton Road branch Suzanne Mayne said: "It was lovely. There are 400 BHF shops throughout Britain, but there was only one proposal of marriage and that was here in Barry."

The couple were presented with a bottle of sparkling wine by BHF and a bunch of flowers by neighbouring greengrocers Stephensons.

Suzanne added: "We hope to take more than £500 with the love notes, and our bear who needed a name. It was Arnie, chosen by D Woodham."
