Barry pair take their marks

DOMINIC Papura and Calvin Maclaggon of the Barry and Vale Harriers are in line for selection to represent Wales in an international match against England and Ireland on March 14 at Cardiff's National Indoor Athletics Centre.

Dominic Papura recently took a silver medal in the 60 metres at the Welsh Indoor Championships.

He is current Welsh Indoor Senior Champion over 100 and 200 metres and 18 months ago became British under-23 and university champion.

Dominic finished in a disappointing sixth position at an important meeting at Sheffield's new high-performance indoor track on February 7 and 8.

His coach John Hartley of the Barry and Vale Harriers said: "Although he expected to medal in these championships it seemed all the heavy training he did in the build-up to those races took its toll."
