"We fixed it" for ball pit bonanza

DISABLED Barry schoolchildren have an incredible £500 towards new equipment - thanks to our Fix It Campaign.

The Barry and District News and Round Table have delighted Palmerston Primary pupils by giving them the cash for play equipment.

Teacher Bev Hopkins said: "We are delighted with this news. Most of the children in the special education needs department have problems with their limbs, so we need to invest in a large ball pit for them to get the most out of it. These areas are very expensive, and the money from the Barry Round Table will go a long way to helping us realise this dream for our pupils.

She added: "We are continuing without fundraising efforts, but this has been a huge boost and is very much appreciated."

The children had their first taste of soft play when they had a Christmas treat Mrs Hopkins said: "These are very special young people, with physical impairments and special educational needs.

"They have to move about in wheelchairs, walking frames or crutches and it was truly delightful to see these lovely children enjoying themselves so much. The look on their faces was superb.

"It will be super for the children to be able to recreate that freedom and fun in their very on school. Thank you for helping to make our dream come true."
