Lifeboat

TO keep our lifeboat on 24-hour emergency call 365 days a year, the fundraising team here in Barry are always asking the people to dip deep into their pockets during their collections and the organised fundraising events.

As a thank you to the people of Barry and the Vale for their generosity and support we recently presented for the second year running our free carol service in All Saints Church. The concert was again well supported and with only a few empty seats even though the rain that night was the heaviest experienced for some time. The generosity on the night was greater than we could have ever expected, this was due to the excellent performance of The Barry Male Voice Choir conducted by Gordon Mudford, The Saint Athan Voluntary Band conducted by Alan Bourne.

When we offered free tickets for the concert, people could not understand how the fundraising arm of the Barry RNLI could put on such a concert - it was only possible due to the support of local businesses and stores who sponsored the costs of the evening. To the sponsors, the choir, the band, Reverend Oeppen of All Saints Church, all those who attended and the helpers on the night, I on behalf of the Barry Fundraising Committee thank you for your support and for making this an evening to remember.

Following the many thanks received after the concert we have pencilled in December 10, 2004, for the concert later this year.

We are always looking for help with our fundraising. If you could spare a few hours a month to help us keep the lifeboats around our shores at sea, then please contact us, office hours, on telephone 01446 720000.

Many thanks again for your generous support throughout the year.
