DVD review 'Bottom Live 2003'

IF YOU are easily offended, stay away from Bottom Live 2003, The Weapons Grade Y-Front Tour. But if you're not, just plug yourself in, sit back and prepare to chuckle.

It's an 18 certificate, and boy, does it ever deserve to be! Filmed on Southend's Cliffs Pavilion stage, Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall whip up a frenzied storm of applause as they entertain a capacity audience with their typical aplomb.

In fact, it is a scream, but only if you like Bottom. If not, don't even bother, because the jokes, the antics and the whole tone of the show is - well, Bottom.

The pair are hilarious and even their gaffs are hysterical, as they turn fluffed and forgotten lines, or heckling into seamless comic moments.

Bottom fans will be relieved to find Richard Richards (Mayall) is still as unattractive and sexually frustrated as he has always been, and Eddie (Edmondson) is just as alcohol-driven and sadistic.

The humour is smutty, the language is very, very bad and the actions more than a bit on the tasteless side, but to be honest you would expect nothing else from the terrible two.
