SO suddenly we are expected to believe that the Vale Council is to receive money from the Welsh government to keep council tax low.
The truth is that over the last four years eight million pounds has been taken away from the Vale Council taxpayers by the government.
On top of this the council is facing further cuts of more than £3,400,000. This includes reductions in aid to a children's centre and a slashing of professional educational assistance to schools. Once again the budget for road repairs and street lighting is likely to be inadequate.
The elderly could well be forced to stay longer in hospital if the threatened £800,000 reduction in care services occurs.
But, according to New Labour, a last minute handout will make all the difference. Who are they kidding?
Incidentally this money has not actually been allocated to the Vale. Yet the part time Secretary of State for Wales talks about it in the press.
Let's face it, Rhodri Morgan's government has spent all it's finances in the pre-Assembly election handouts. It is now passing the burden on to tax payers.
