DVD review 'Hook'

THE ENTHRALLING tale of Peter Pan, the young boy who refused to grow up, has been capturing the hearts of millions for one hundred years.

And although there is a new movie just coming into our cinemas now which looks excellent, Hook is one adaptation that will live forever. Digitally remastered and re-released for today's youth, it is the perfect family movie.

In Hook, Peter Pan is played by the incomparable Williams has grown up. And he is not the fun-loving free spirit he was as a child as an adult. He has matured into a cut-throat merger and acquisitions lawyer, and is married to Wendy's granddaughter.

The evil and cunning Captain Hook, very well characterised by Dustin Hoffman, kidnaps Pan's children, and he has to return to Never Land with Tinkerbell, (Julia Roberts).

But first, he has to remember his magical past, and as a rational grown man, this is harder than it sounds. But with the help of Tink and his Lost Boys, Peter must remember how to be Peter Pan again in order to save his children. And of course, it means a swashbuckling battle with his old nemesis, Captain Hook.

With stars like Bob Hoskins, Phil Collins and Maggie Smith added to the armoury, it is a fantastic film full of action, magic and mayhem.
