A BARRY teenager knocked down and killed in a tragic Boxing Day accident has been named by South Wales Police.
Detectives have confirmed that eighteen-year-old Aaron Palmer was struck by a Ford Fiesta on the B4265 late in the evening of December 26.
He was rushed by ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
Initially medical staff reported that he was in a stable condition, but his health rapidly deteriorated and he died in the early hours of the following morning.
Aaron is believed to be popular locally but his grief-stricken family have requested that their address is not revealed.
Through a police spokesman they have also asked for time to come to terms with their sudden loss in private.
Meanwhile police are still investigating the incident.
The accident happened at around 11.40pm at the crossroads leading from Boverton to Eglwys Brewis.
A spokesman told the News: "We have traced all parties involved in the accident and are now looking for witnesses."
Earlier this year, the B4265 Bridgend to Llantwit Road was named in a local paper as one of the worst accident blackspots in South Wales.
Local people said that speeding through villages on the road is a serious problem.
In October 2002, an 80-year-old man suffered a broken leg after being involved in a smash on the road near the Llantwit Major bypass.
Any witnesses to the Boxing Day accident are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Cardiff Bay Police Station on 029 2022 2111.
