Mr Hector Anderson, who has recently arrived from Scotland, has been appointed the new resident manager of the Tivoli Cinema, Barry which was recently acquired by the Highland Development Trust Ltd.

Mr Raymond Gower MP, for Barry presented Mr W T Clarke secretary of the Barry Cage Bird Society, with the 'Raymond Gower Trophy' on Saturday.

Books issued to children by the Borough Library are "very well looked after," members of the Library Committee were told on Thursday. "They do handle them a treat," commented Mr E Cawley.

If a decision is reached in the FA Cup Tie between Yeovil and Merthyr on Saturday, Yeovil will visit Barry Town on Wednesday next.

The WRVS Organiser for South Glamorgan Mrs Edwards was the guest speaker at the meeting of the St Nicholas Darby and Joan Club on Friday.

Speaking to Labour Party supporter at Dinas Powis, Mr Peter Stead, the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Barry constituency said that the Tories who controlled South Glamorgan seemed determined to erode and lower the quality of life of as many people as possible.

The Rotary Club of Barry staged another very successful fireworks fiesta at Barry's Romilly Park on Saturday.
