Cows run

I am writing from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the world's largest animal rights organisation. Cowbridge recently announced that it is considering holding a cow run, modelled on the "Running of the Bulls" spectacle held in Pamplona, Spain, for its 750th anniversary event.

We are sending a letter to the chairman of the committee that organises the Cowbridge anniversary event telling her why we think the cow run idea stinks more than 750 tons of manure, why protests would be inevitable if Cowbridge went through with it and encouraging her to take on something more compassionate and more interesting instead.

We've suggested having something similar to the popular human-only "Running of the Nudes" race we hold in Pamplona every year (to protest against the "Running of the Bulls"). Basically, that's naked people running through the streets to show Pamplona that they do not need to torture animals to attract tourists.

We have offered to show Cowbridge how the "Running of the Nudes" is done on the 750th anniversary. You can see photos of our "Running of the Nudes" event and read more about it at www. RunningOftheNudes.com
