Stormin' Norman wins top award

LOCAL sportsman Aneurin Norman, 12, of Michaelston le Pit has just been awarded an All Rounder Scholarship to Millfield School, the world-renowned centre of sports excellence.

Aneurin is a keen cricketer and began playing for Radyr Cricket Club when he was just six years old. His talent was soon spotted and he was playing for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan County team before he was nine.

Stormin' Norman went on to play for Wales at the age of ten and has recently been invited to trials for the West of England U13 Squad, a tremendous achievement.

He has already made his mark in the scorebooks by knocking up a few 100s and many 50s. Not content with that, he's also bowled several 'hat tricks' and a taken a 'five for' - five wickets in a match, as well as being Captain of the Welsh U-12 team and their leading wicket-taker!

During the winter, Aneurin is a talented goalkeeper for Dinas Powys U-13 Football Team and plays rugby with Dinas Powys RFC.

In order to win his All Rounder Scholarship, Aneurin who attends The Cathedral School, Llandaff, had to prove himself academically and musically too and the competition was fierce. "It was my dream to go to Millfield and I can't wait to go there next September" he said.
