WITH regard to helping a poor, stray cat that took refuge in my garden at the end of September, it had been seen roaming around gardens at the Colcot and Merthyr Dyfan Road since the summer.
It finally ended up in my garden underneath a tree, and it was so thin that I rang the RSPCA and Cats Protection and had some difficulty in getting through, being fobbed off from one number to another.
No-one seemed to be willing to take the cat on, or give advice. I kept the cat outside my back door in a cardboard box, which was sheltered and warm.
To have it in the house was unthinkable because of the state it was in. The smell was unbearable.
It must have been a beautiful cat at one time, with long, sandy-coloured hair, with white legs, chest and sides.
The practice nurse at Broad Street Veterinary Surgery very kindly phoned the RSPCA for help for me and someone called to have a look at the cat.
I took care of the cat from October 1 until it sadly died suddenly on November 15.
I was very angry over this matter, not having received help from the RSPCA or Cats Protection, but was just fobbed off.
F Brewer, Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry.
