HOW many people take time to look at the Memorial stone erected to the memory of the seamen of Barry and the Vale, who gave their lives in the cause of freedom, situated outside the Vale of Glamorgan offices in Barry?

If you did you would have noticed how it had become an eyesore to the families and friends of their loves ones.

Not only is some parts wearing away, it's dirty and unreadable. I would like to know why.

Why has it been allowed to get as bad as it is? Who is in charge of looking after the cleaning and upkeep of the memorial? If this is Portland stone, why is it breaking up? After all it's only been a few years.

Are the stonemasons going to be paid again for the restoration of their work? After all, they were paid to do a good job that would last in the first place.

I'm not a seafaring man, not a military man, but I care, do you.
