Hat-trick of wins for Swambridge sides

SULLY SPORTS 2

FOCHRIW RISING SUN 1

SULLY Sports made chance after chance in the opening stages of this South Wales Senior League Division One match at Swanbridge, but could not take advantage until a fine move involving Mike Lewis and Neil Haggard saw Neil fire home to give the side a deserved lead.

With Ryan and Ali causing Fochriw problems it seemed another goal would come, but the half finished with Sully holding a slender lead.

The back line of Thomas, Hurley, Nunn and Lewis coped well with Fochriw attacks but after a superb Richard Yarr header the Fochriw keeper saved brilliantly - Gordon Banks style, and the visitors equalised soon after.

The Fochriw keeper again foiled a good Haggard effort but was beaten when Richard Yarr notched the winner with a left foot drive to earn Sully the points.

This Saturday Sully make the short trip to Wenvoe to play Trelai, leaving at 1pm sharp.

VALLEY ATHLETIC 1

SULLY SPORTS 3 (aet)

Sully travelled to the Swansea Valley for their South Wales Youth League Cup quarter final tie and in a close fought game it needed extra time to settle the match.

Sully took the lead through Alex Maurice and held on until the last minute when Valley equalised from the penalty spot.

Sully again took the lead with an own goal in extra time, and victory was sealed when Jared Ali finished well.

SWANBRIDGE STARS 6

VICTORIA PARK

OLYMPIC 3

In the Cardiff Lazarou Sunday League Swanbridge kept the heat on the leaders with a 6-3 win over a hard working Olympic team who never gave up.

Snodgers made an excellent sixth goal for the elusive Steno, and Fergie continued his bid for the league's golden boot, standing in second place.

This Sunday the Stars entertain leaders Tiger Bay, kick-off 11am, hoping to overturn an earlier league defeat.
