Cinema review Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (18)

THIS FILM was inspired by the 1974 version of the same name; it terrified the movie-going public so much that it was banned for many years.

This new and updated version still has the same appeal, and it's about to petrify many more people.

The year is 1973 and five friends are driving across country on their way home from Mexico when they pick up a hitchhiker.

She seems bewildered and incoherent, then suddenly decides that life is not worth living and pulls out a gun and promptly blows the back of her head off.

That is the start of their troubles as one by one they disappear at the hands of one of the most notorious killers in horror movie history - leather face.

The whole cast give great performances as the horror of the entire event becomes embedded in your mind.

First time film director Marcus Nispel has used the darkness and internal fears we all have to full effect.

Some say the idea of a horror film is to scare the life out of you - and for some this movie will do just that.
