Big party

My family and I are trying to organise a party for my mother's 80th birthday next May.

I hope that the readers of your newspaper can help me track down a friend of hers that she has not seen for many years as we would love to surprise her on her special day.

We are trying to find a lady by the name of Gwynne Jones - although that is probably her maiden name. My mother's name is Margaret Joan Bullock, but at the time she and Gwynne first knew each other she would have been known as Joan Barnes.

She and Gwynne were in 916 Company of the ATS together during the Second World War, stationed at various times in Wrexham, Keynsham and Looe. We believe that Gwynne would be around 82-years-old now. She and my mother were mess orderlies and would have been together in Looe in 1943.

We know that Gwynne visited my mother after she married and that she came to the family home, first at Reservoir Road and later at Linden Road in Gloucester, in the early 1960s.

Unfortunately the two of them seem to have lost touch after that and we have no way of knowing where Gwynne is now.

The only thing we know for certain is that she originally came from Wales. If any of your readers do know of Gwynne, I would be grateful if they would contact me.

My e-mail address is dwbullock@tiscali.co.uk, or they can write to me at Flat 2, 34 Grosvenor Place, Bath. BA1 6BA. Darryl W Bullock Grosvenor Place Bath
