Art news

WHATEVER other arguments surround local newspapers, one point is beyond dispute: they play a pivotal role in the fabric of the local community.

This point has been amply demonstrated in recent weeks following the great success of the two shows put on by Barry Arts - From This Moment On, and our youth production last week, Wizzy's Wishing Well.

The editorial space given by the Barry and District News to news about both productions was of great value in making the public more aware of our activities and has been instrumental in encouraging potential new members to come forward.

In addition to underlining the contribution of the local press, may I once again voice my thanks to members of Barry Arts Centre, both on and off stage, who have given so much to these two productions in our 40th anniversary year.

Pamela T Wagner, Penarth, Chairperson Barry Arts Centre
