Spare cash

I hope our local paper is forceful in condemning the payoffs to councillors.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council were very quick to vote for the proposal to give up to £20,000 to retiring councillors.

It is a pity they were not so quick to make decisions about vital projects in the Vale, for example it took 20 years to sort out Barry Town Hall.

Where is the funding coming from when we are again promised rises in council tax?

If the Assembly has money to spare surely it should go on services to the community rather than to councillors who are already in receipt of generous expenses.

Yours, disgruntled council taxpayer
