Special soccer match benefits Ty Hafan

A SPECIAL sports event has raised more than £400 for the Ty Hafan Children's Hospice.

Played in good spirits, the charity soccer match staged at Barry's Jenner Park stadium involved Vale of Glamorgan teachers and the Vale Council's Sports Development Unit.

The Vale Council supported the event by providing facilities free of charge to ensure all the money raised went directly to the charity.

The Vale's Cabinet Member (Lifelong Learning and Education), Cllr Tony Hampton, said: "Special praise should go to Mark Ellis, from Romilly School, for organising the event, and I am thrilled this local charity helping seriously ill children should benefit from the match."

Anyone requiring further information about sporting opportunities in the Vale can contact Sports Development Manager Paul Nanji on (01446) 704614.
