'You're scum'

A FUND set up to help tragic Barry mother Sarah Greening has been stolen from the pub she worked in.

Money from charity boxes at the King William IV pub in Cadoxton was snatched after thieves broke in.

Landlords Susan Neale and her partner Robert Morgan discovered the money was missing the next morning.

They believe the burglars visited the pub earlier in the day and left a window in the back of the pub on the latch.

Susan, who is also Sarah Greening's aunt, said: "I'm absolutely disgusted and I want them to know they're scum.

"I have put a notice on my door, telling people we were broken into because I want everyone to know. Sarah's not even out of hospital and they've stolen money from her.

Feelings are running very high at the moment."

Sarah Greening had not long been working at the pub before her son Ben died after being struck by a train on a Dinas Powys railway line.

One-week later Ben's father Richard Greening attacked Sarah before killing himself at the same spot where Ben died.

Susan added: "We have been collecting since her son died because it was for him originally, but then this happened to Sarah and now it's for her and her daughters, Abby, Hayley and Jessica.

"She was very popular here. People ask all the time how she is, they have been very generous.

"There was about £250 in there, but they got away with more than that because they stole all the other charity boxes.

"They took the Marie Curie box and even the pensioners Christmas dinner fund." She added that the money would definitely be replaced.

"We will replace the money.

We have started another fund for her - everyone has been giving since they heard the news.

Robert Morgan said that he would like the thieves to be brought to justice.

"Every collection box they took was for a good cause.

I am very suspicious of who comes in now and I want to see these people caught and punished."

But he added Sarah is slowly getting better.

"I go to see Sarah all the time and she's coming along slowly.

It's going to take a long, long time.

"The money was for her and the children went she came out of hospital."

Police Superintendent Josh Jones stated: "We are dismayed to hear of this appalling crime.

The culprits concerned clearly have no conscience.

"We would ask anyone who has any information regarding this crime to contact Barry Police Station on 01446 734451 or Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111.
