SIR - After returning from holiday I could not believe the council is sticking to its story that nothing underhand is going on at Pontalun Close flats.
It says it cannot rent out the flats because nobody wants to move there.
As far as I can see there isn't anyone in the flats who wants to leave. The people who have
left have either received payment to leave or have been misinformed about the consequences if they stayed.
The flats are well positioned for pensioners, 50 yards from a doctors' surgery, a bus stop and a pensioners' home where there are trained nurses.
I do wonder if it is normal procedure to pay people £1,500 and moving expenses to move into a council flat.
If so, why is the council not offering the same deal to entice people to move into the Pontalun Close flats?
It shows the pensioners who remained were only interested in the good quality of life in the area, free from worry, as it should be.
They should be allowed to end their days in peace.
I hope somebody will see sense and let them.
A concerned neighbour.
