Illtydians are baffled and bemused

BARRY RFC Under-11s made a delayed start to the season away to Old Illtydians last Sunday after their two previous games were called off when their opponents failed to raise teams.

The referee was happy to play 15-a-side on the large pitch, with the home team fielding many Under-12 players.

This is what Barry 11s have wanted for some time - a bigger, more physical challenge after being undefeated for three-and-a-half years.

It proved a fast, open game and very physical in the tight rucks and mauls.

After a close first ten minutes Barry cut loose to leave their opponents baffled and bemused.

At the final whistle Barry ran out 35-10 winners, with 5 tries and 5 conversions.

This was a great start to the season with the new players settling in well, and the solid, clinical performance pleased coach Ricki Thomas.
