The scholars of All Saints Church Sunday School have been presented with special commemoration bibles to mark the occasion of the Coronation.
Mr D J P Richards, headmaster of Cadoxton Secondary Boys' School, has gained his MA at the University of Wales for a treatise on "Athletic records and achievement in relation to climatic, social and environmental factors."
The St Aidan's Young People's Association held a very successful Coronation party at St Aidan's Church Hall on Saturday when about 80 young people from All Saints' YPA, St Mary's YPA and St Aidans, sat down to supper.
Because of what were termed "special conditions" which grave diggers at Barry Cemetery had to face, the Barry Parks and Open Spaces Committee recommended at its monthly meeting on Friday that the rate of pay should be increased to 3s 2d per hour.

The deputy mayor (Cllr Arthur Lloyd) will make the first jackpot draw of the Vale of Glamorgan Borough Lottery at Penarth Conservative Club tomorrow (Friday) evening.
Local lifeboatmen and coastguards had a hectic weekend when deceptive on-shore weather conditions did not give the dangerous picture just a few hundred yards out to sea.
An annual clean up of a Barry Reservoir, the preserve of the Glamorgan Anglers' Club, has revealed some shocking statistics, according to members who are clearing reeds. They said that the worst aspect has been evidence of cruelty and vandalism.
Cat lovers will be interested to know that the Blue Peter cats, Jack and Jill, will be on view when the Cambria Car Club has its second exemption cat show in the Barry Memorial Hall.
The Cadoxton Darby and Joan Club opened on Tuesday week with community singing led by Mrs Barbara Harris with Mrs Davies at the piano.
