MY WIFE and I recently attended a barbecue hosted by long-term friends. Whilst enjoying the sunshine and company we all chatted about various things.
During the course of the conversation one of the guests brought up the inevitable - the council and how money was being wasted in practically all areas through bad management.
The conversation then centred on council properties that became vacant either through the tenant vacating without notice or unfortunately dying with no living relatives.
The question was posed as to what happens to all the furniture and possessions that are left.
All the time the discussion was taking place the host's 12-year-old son was listening intently and on the odd occasion contributed to the discussion.
I was quite taken aback that a 12-year-old suddenly sounded quite adult and some of his suggestions quite meaningful.
I asked him to write down what he thought should happen to items left in these properties and I would pass it on to your good selves as a matter of interest.
So please find a 12-year-old's comments, in the letter below, on what he thinks should happen to unclaimed possessions left in vacant council properties.
