DVD review : Catch me if you can

TRAUMATISED by the shocking news of his parents divorce, Long Island high-schooler Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo DiCaprio) runs away from home in Catch Me If You Can.

Heading to Manhattan with just a few dollars in his account, he scams his way across America and the world as an airline pilot, a doctor and assistant attorney general.

But the net tightens, thanks to dogged FBI agent Carl Hanratty, played by Tom Hanks, who tracks down the young con artist. But not before years of impersonations.

The boy who passed himself off as a man ten years older is fascinating, but you also begin feel sorry for him.

Abagnale Jr. idolises his father, who's in trouble with the IRS and young Frank vows to regain his dad's losses and get his parents back together.

But he realises it is getting out of control and begs his father to ask him to stop.

He's tried and jailed for gaining over $2,000,000 through bad cheques. Carl Hanratty is credited with the catch.

And when Carl realises Frank Junior's talent, it starts something completely new.

Don't bother renting it - you'll want to watch it again and again.
