LORELAI Westcott, Sophie Lloyd and Nicole Gannon, who train at Barry YMCA, are to be congratulated on a remarkable performance at their first Rhythmic Gymnastic competition at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
The girls took part in the novice competition came away with medals.
Lorelai Westcott came second in her free routine and received a silver medal, and also third in the hoop routine to claim a bronze.
Lorelai now goes through to the British grades final in Burton on Trent in November.
Nicole Gannon won silver in her hoop routine and Sophie Lloyd received a certificate for her participation.
The two gymnasts had never before competed in front of an audience.
Rhythmic gymnastics differs from artistic gymnastics as the performers use hand apparatus such as the hoop, rope, ball, clubs, ribbon and perform free routines.
The section at the YMCA has been running for only a short time, and the girls have progressed so much.
Their coach Lucy Bennett is delighted with their progress, so well done girls on a great achievement.
