The future of bowls at Millwood

IN THEIR inaugural Vale of Glamorgan League match, Millwood Juniors welcomed Murch Juniors, Dinas Powys, to the Broad Close Green.

The match format was three rinks of triples with Millwood successful by 2 rinks to 1, and winning 24-14 overall.

The game on rink two was exciting with both skips Chris Crockford (Millwood) and Adam Fowler producing some brilliant bowls in a hard fought tussle with the honours just favouring the Murch skip.

A special mention must go to the Millwood lead Rhys Phillips who at only six played some excellent lead bowls.

Millwood won comfortably on the other two rinks with Rhodri Phillips and Jody Davies in fine form but both Murch rinks fought hard, especially skip Daniel Webb who drew excellent shots on each of the last three ends.

The game was played in fine spirit in warm weather.

Rink results (Millwood first): Ashley Kelland, Rhydian Harris, Rhodri Phillips 10, Jamie Sullivan, Taylor Richards, Danielle Mill 4; Rhys Phillips, John Barnet, Chris Crockford 5, Alice Bennett, Rhys Huntley, Adam Fowler 7; Ashley Connolly, Adam Burniston, Jody Davies 9, Andrew Williams, Lloyd Spiteri, Daniel Webb 3.

The Millwood Juniors were due to play their next league match at the Cadoxton rink on Tuesday, August 5.

The other teams in this junior league are Murch, Cadoxton and Llantwit Major.
