WORLD boxing champion Joe Calzaghe showed his softer side when he visited Sully to launch the Ty Hafan Taff Trail Challenge.
The Super Middleweight champ, who attended the hospice on Thursday, July 24, has been associated with the charity for many years.
Joe said visiting the hospice was an inspiring experience.
He told us: "I am always happy to help out here, if I'm able to come down to give my support I try my best.
"It is uplifting to see these kids just carrying on with their lives even though they have great problems.
"I think when anyone complains about something in life they should come here to find out what Ty Hafan do for these children.
"Seeing these great kids gives me strength and inspires me in my life. People should not moan about their lives.
"To see the children running around and smiling is really wonderful."
Joe spent so much of his time signing autographs for children at Ty Hafan he eventually ran out of photographs.
One of the many youngsters pleased to see the boxer was 12-year-old Adam Leighton who has been shown a lot of kindness by Joe and has even had the honour of visiting the champ's house.
Ty Hafan fundraiser, Sandie Grindley, said: "He is such a kind man and will always help us out where he can.
"He has visited the centre three or four times and likes to assist if he can."
Since retaining his world title a few months ago Joe has resumed training and expects to fight in October but as yet the opponent has not been decided.
The Ty Hafan Trail will be sponsored by Eversheds Solicitors and teams such as Transco and Penrhiwceiber Rangers AFC have already entered the race.
The Trail, a 55-mile trek starting in Brecon and ending in Cardiff Bay, takes place on Sunday, September 7.
