CD Rview: Kym Marsh 'Standing Tall'

YOU WOULD be forgiven if it were a struggle to remember Hear'Say, but they did exist.

And one of the band members discovered through the very first Popstars was Kym Marsh.

However, it was not long before she sensationally quit the band, just before it folded anyway.

Things seemed to be going well for the former band member, she married Jack Ryder from Eastenders, and embarked on her solo career.

But what now? The album Standing Tall is OK, but that's about it. The songs are average, unfortunately a bit like her voice. She is attractive, but not in any wild or exciting way - and to top it all, her and Jack have separated through the pressures of work. Ouch! It must be hard at the top.

This album is, at best, sweet. There are some nice lyrics, but it does not appear that Kym is the main writer, so she can't take much credit for that, either.

So, with average looks, an average voice and average lyrics, Kym Marsh's album will more than likely loiter around the charts for a while before sliding down to obscurity.

If she wants to come back with another attempt, she will need to change something about her act to find a sound people can relate to. Otherwise, it will suffer the same fate as this - less of a wannabe than a willneverbe!
