AS a matter of interest I have never written to a newspaper before or involved myself in any focus group whatsoever, believing that it would be better to keep ones own thoughts and deliberations to oneself.
However, I was rather outraged to read last week of a local councillor suggesting that a campaign to remove the disrespectful signage at the Barry Memorial Hall was orchestrated by members of his own council.
After reading such rubbish I was absolutely disgusted that this councillor could even think that such a thought was true.
I am absolutely disgusted and ashamed that such insulting signage was even allowed to be erected in the first place and so are many others in the town - so to think this he must live in cloud cuckoo land!
Having read many letters in the press from people who live in the town including letters of protest from the Royal British Legion and the RAFA, does he seriously believe that people of such high principals and integrity would be involved in such a conspiracy?
I think not!
From my own point of view as an ex-serviceman and war pensioner I strongly agree with the letters of protest against the 'Memo' being used on the signage.
I witnessed some of my own comrades lay down their lives for this country's peace and freedom and I want them to be remembered properly with respect so it is highly inappropriate for the Barry Council to shorten the name of the Memorial Hall.
So please restore the hall to its correct title now - 'Memorial Hall' and let's have an end to this silly nonsense of having a Memo logo on the signage.
