CD review: David Sneddon 'Seven Year - Ten Weeks'

THE WINNER of Fame Academy was not the wild Ainsley or the gorgeous Sinead, but the boy-next-door David Sneddon.

Thought of for much of the time as the underdog, David was brought into the contest for the million pound record deal late in the game, but his tenacity as a performer did him proud.

With a nail-biting end to the ten week ordeal, David was obviously thrilled when he was voted the winner by the public.

Now the 24-year old from Scotland has released his first album, called Seven Years - Ten Weeks and it is a real treat.

There are 12 tracks on the album, along with bonus material on the CD if you use it on the computer.

And if you wait patiently, you will discover an extra song at the end of number 12, with David singing accompanied only by a piano.

There is no doubting this young man's singer/songwriter talent after listening to his first chart singles, and this CD only backs that up. He has a slight Robbie Williams feel to some of his music, but without the bitterness and anger that has dogged the ex-Take That! star lately.

David's songs concentrate on his journey through the last seven years as a struggling musician. There are some lovely ballads and the occasional up-beat tune to get you in the mood.

All together, this is a great album, and a steady start to what looks like a promising career for a talented young man.
