Film review: Jungle Book 2

The story picks up from when Mowgli enters the man village.

Despite having a loving family, Mowgli begins to miss the jungle, so he goes back to have more good times. The only problem is Shere Kahn is out for revenge.

The only reason this has probably been given a cinema release is because it's the holiday season. Just because it has stars such as Haley Joel Osment, John Goodman and Phil Collins providing the voices, it doesn't mean it deserves a big release.

OK, so the film makers may have one hell of a challenge by making a sequel to an all-time Disney classic, but they should have done better than this.

While it may entertain the kids, the makers have forgotten about the adults. After all, it's the adults who grew up with Jungle Book, so they deserve better.

What you end up with is something which has already been seen before. Kids may enjoy it because it's a cinematic experience, but for old fans of the Jungle Book they must feel cheated.

Goodman and Osment do cracking jobs as they fit the characters so well. But despite a few new songs The Jungle Book 2 joins Disney's Pocahontas 2 and The Lion King 2 on the pile of cinematic animated garbage.
