I HAD a dream last night.
I was gazing into a crystal ball but instead of seeing the future I was looking at the past.
Strangely, I saw the Remembrance Sunday parade outside our beloved Barry Memorial Hall.
I was standing at the entrance looking at the cenotaph, reflecting on the past while waiting for the dignitaries to arrive.
But instead of the mayor and town councillors along with other dignitaries, I saw the ghosts of those who gave their lives for freedom and peace, carrying a banner which read: "Shame on you - this is graffiti too far."
Suddenly there was a flash and the crystal ball span through 180 degrees. I was now looking into the future.
Lo and behold, I saw a committee of intelligent people sitting around a large table in Barry Town Council.
Suddenly they all raised their heads in the air and exclaimed with one voice: "Sorry, we got it wrong - we thought we knew best.
We apologise and will remove the offensive 'Memo' wording from the signs outside our beloved Memorial Hall."
And everybody lived happily ever after.
James Neale, Barry.
