Photos stolen

A BARRY mum whose father died on Good Friday last year has had precious photographs of him stolen by thieves.

Thirty-six-year-old Yvette Weaver lost the only photograph of her with her dad when it was stolen from her Gladstone Road home on Monday, April 14.

Yvette, her partner Rod, 34, and two of her three sons, Adam, 18, and Simon, 14, were asleep during the early hours when thieves struck.

Her 12-year-old, John, was the only one who missed the ordeal as he was staying with his father.

The criminals stole her denim handbag, containing house keys, car keys and her purse.

Inside Yvette's purse were personal photographs, including one of her father, John, who died of kidney failure a year ago.

The devastated administration assistant said: "My father, like me, didn't like photos, so this was very special.

We're both in the snap, taken two summers ago.

The only other one I have of my father was taken when he was in his forties.

He died when he was 67, so he'd changed a lot."

The thieves also stole her Renault Clio from right outside her home.

It is believed they used it in a break in at Holton Road before ripping out her CD player and speakers.

They then stole a teddy from the back shelf before dumping the vehicle in Avocet Court.

Yvette said: "When the police knocked the door at 5.30am, it was the first we knew of the break-in.

We've had to change all the locks and the car is now a write-off.

But all that means nothing compared to my picture.

If anyone finds my bag, or if the heartless people responsible have any shred of decency, please hand it in."

A spokesman for Barry police station said: "We can confirm we were called to an address in Gladstone Road on April 14.

"We are also investigating allegations with regards to a Renault Clio car.

"If anyone does find the photographs, please contact Barry Police on 01446 734451 or drop them into the nearest police station."
