I RECENTLY won a competition in the Barry & District News and I am writing to thank you for the most generous gift of a two-day stay at the Bristol Marriott Hotel.

My husband, granddaughter and I stayed at the hotel last weekend and had a very enjoyable time.

The hotel was superb, as were the staff, and the food and accommodation were excellent. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I cannot tell you how grateful I was to win this super break as I have been off work for five months with a serious back problem, and was feeling rather low, but the break has cheered me up no end.

Not only did I win the Marriott Hotel competition but a few weeks later I won the Playstation 2 competition, and won a Playstation 2 game, which is giving my son great pleasure, so I also thank you for that.

I haven't finished yet.

A few years later I then won the Moscow State Circus competition and received tickets for four people to go to the circus, so I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with my granddaughter and two friends at Sophia Gardens last Thursday.

As someone who has always read the Barry & District News from the beginning to the end but never looked at the competition page, I now start the paper at page 22.

Of course, I then go back to the beginning to read all the interesting news.

Many, many thanks for brightening up my time at home.

I now know what I shall be doing in my lunch breaks when I return to work.
