It's all a lot of hocus pocus

AN AWARD-winning Barry magician has fulfilled the dream of working with his all-time hero.

Mr Hocus Pocus, better known as Peter Hopkins, was accepted on a Paul Daniels' masterclass in Birmingham, which he hopes will add that special something to his act.

He told the News: "I have been interested in magic since seeing Paul in Bournemouth. After that, I was given magic sets and books as presents.

Magic was my one and only hobby when I was a young boy, and it's all grown from there."

Now 33 years old, Peter from the West End of Barry, is looking to make his hobby a profession once again.

He added: "I am already a professional magician, or I would not have been able to attend this course.

It was only open to people of a certain standard and I was one of only two magicians from Wales there.

"But I took a career break for a couple of years before deciding to go out on my own."

With a host of experience, from demanding children's parties and close-up table top magic, to large corporate entertainment, Peter has just launched his own business - Wizard Entertainments.

He added: "I can perform to any size crowd, which is why I think my business will be a success. I will keep adults just as amused as children in a birthday party."

A member of the Cardiff Magical Society, Peter is preparing to hit the big time.

He said: "Alongside adding that extra shine and polish to our acts, part of the course was to give magicians tips on marketing ourselves. So hopefully, people will start seeing much more of me."

Mr Hocus Pocus is available for hire by calling Wizard Entertainments on 07780 841 262.
