Hole in one for Holme Tower

WELSH business people are being urged to pick up their golf clubs and tee off to raise money for Penarth's Holme Tower, the only Marie Curie cancer centre in Wales.

Holme Tower is calling on companies in Wales to enter a team of four for the charity golf day on Friday, May 16 at Cottrell Park Golf Club, St Nicholas.

This year they are hoping to repeat last year's performance and attract more than 45 teams to the competition.

Entries so far this year have come from Barclays Bank, Julian Hodge Bank, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Deloitte & Touche, Grant Thornton, J R Freeman and Allied Bakeries.

The entry fee per team is £180. All funds raised will go directly to Holme Tower, which costs more than £2.5 million each year to run, entirely funded through charitable donations.

John Pimbley, organiser of the Marie Curie golf tournament, said: "Over the past six years, Welsh businesses have helped raise £60,000 for Holme Tower through our annual golf day.

"The tournament will help ensure that people with cancer in Wales continue to receive expert care and attention.

In addition to the friendly rivalry, the day will also be a great opportunity for business people to network and relax in some beautiful surroundings."

All competitors taking part in the tournament can enjoy full use of the club's facilities on the day, as well as a meal in the clubhouse.

Anyone interested in entering a team in the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity Golf Day should contact the Fundraising Office on 029 2042 6000.

Further information on individual hole sponsorship is also available from the Fundraising Office.
