Further to your front page story of Wednesday, April 3, 'Nowhere to Play'.
There has been a decline in the maintenance of our parks over the past 30 years.
Apart from some sporadic seasonal activity, there has been little or no effort by the council to deal with the problem, other than to dispose of the Parks Department personnel - remember the park keeper in Romilly Park?
And to leave the parks unlocked at night, all to save money - what stupidity!
Money saved could never match expenditure to put right damage by the late-night visitors, who gather there to engage in anti-social activities.
A park ranger service is overdue to assist the police to protect public amenities.
So, what now?
Will they remain locked and out of bounds until they become completely derelict, then to be sold off for housing developments - the Vale Council's usual solution?
