I FULLY agree with Mr Ceri Rowlands (last week's Barry and District News) about the rudeness of the workers at the civic amenity depot at Hayes Road.
My wife and I visited the site recently to deposit some garden waste that we'd put in four carrier bags.
However, there was a queue of about 20 cars waiting in Hayes Road, so I drove past the queue and waited in the car on the other side of the entrance while my wife walked up to the skips carrying the bags (I am disabled).
She was abruptly stopped by a workman, who told her she wasn't allowed to walk up to the skips, but had to wait in the queue of cars.
My car was causing no problem to other road users and would have been there less than five minutes (as opposed to the 40 minutes we would have expected to wait in the road, according to your report).
What a difference in attitude from that of the previous staff at the site.
Up until about nine months ago, they were always very helpful and accommodating, particularly a young man named Darren, who was always ready to lend a hand and took an obvious pride in the cleanliness of the site.
For another example, they closed the site in the early afternoon on New Year's Eve and only reopened it when a prospective client complained directly to the council.
We don't need a new facility in the area, as proposed by a council spokesman.
What we need is a return to the previous efficient management of the site.
