MP watches Barry victory

WATCHING Barry's win over Rhyl on Saturday was John Smith, MP for the Vale of Glamorgan.

With Barry coasting to victory by four goals to one Mr Smith chose the right match to attend Jenner Park, "I was very pleased to see Barry win again, I don't think there can be any doubt as to who the better team were and I think the final score line was a fair reflection. "Hopefully they can go on now and win the title."

Interest in the football club has increased since ex-Wimbledon striker John Fashanu became Chairman and Mr Smith was keen to meet him, "I know hopes are high that with John Fashanu at the club Barry can really move on to another level, they are already successful so I think he is hoping to build on that," said Mr Smith.

He continued: "Mr Fashanu has a lot of very ambitious plans, and obviously a successful football club reflects well on the town and area as a whole.

"John Fashanu has a lot of contacts in both football and business and this will hopefully be of benefit to the club," Mr Smith added.
