Safety first

I WOULD like to register an official complaint against the Vale of Glamorgan Council's forthcoming plans to ban dogs from the beaches all year round.

As a single person my chosen companion is my dog. In the summer it is possible to exercise my pet in fields and woodland areas.

However, during the winter months, by the time I finish work it is already dark and I do not feel safe walking alone in the woodlands.

The only option I have is to go to the beach. Whitmore Bay is well lit, providing a large safe area to exercise my dog.

The council is supposed to provide a service for all the people, not just the select few. I pay full council tax which includes social services, leisure facilities, education etc.

I do not use any of these services although I contribute financially towards them.

In fact the only thing this council does for me is collect my rubbish and half of that I recycle myself.

I would like to notify the Vale Council officially that if they decide to ban dogs from the beaches during the winter months they will be responsible for putting single women and elderly people into danger by forcing them to use unlit fields and woodlands to exercise their pets.
