Golf event

THE VALE of Glamorgan Council's proposal to spend £300,000 of our council tax promoting the Vale Golf Club as an ideal venue for the Solheim Cup is, as Cllr Curtis observed, a blatant waste of money.

To say that the Solheim Cup is the female equivalent of the Ryder Cup is like saying the Women's Cup Final is the female equivalent of the FA Cup Final.

As for the £20 million cash bonanza we are told it will bring the Vale, how much revenue was generated for Gwent when St Pierre staged this event in 1996?

In truth the only people who will benefit from this obscene waste of money are the freeloaders who will be sticking their little piggy snouts in the trough of corporate hospitality.
