The blind people of Barry wish to thank members of the Barry Graving Dock Welfare Club for their handsome donation of £76 for their Christian festivities.
A cheery Christmas greeting from Mr Raymond Gower, MP for Barry, greeted members of the Barry Conservative and Unionist Association at the annual ball held at Bindles on Wednesday week.
On Friday the drama section of the Co-operative Youth Club, under the leadership of Mrs J Harris, decorated the wards of the Neale-Kent Hospital with trimmings made by members.
The women's branch of the St Nicholas (Barry) Conservative Association held its first annual dinner at the Knapp Hotel on Thursday. The speech was read by hon secretary, Miss Cynthia Matthews.
At the recent December examination of the Associated Board, Pat Shelley was successful in passing Grade II and Carol Mottis was successful in passing Grade I.
Mr A D Bugler was appointed chairman of Barry Trade Unions Council for the remaining meetings of the present session at a recent meeting.

Schoolgirl dancer Julie Summerell has been chosen once again to take part in the Christmas pantomime at the New Theatre, Cardiff, starting on Boxing Day.
A Welsh Development Agency loan of £100,000 has helped to save the jobs of 85 craftsmen with a Barry firm. The medium-term loan is enabling Inglefield Power Engineering to buy assets of Davy Powergas Ltd, who operated from BP Chemicals site at Barry.
At a well-attended meeting of the Llantwit Major Women's Institute, Mrs J Watham gave a talk and demonstration on Christmas decorations.
Mr Chamberlain, a chaplain to the Missions to Seamen, gave a talk accompanied by slides on the work of the mission to members of the St Nicholas Darby and Joan Club on Friday week.
A former Barry School pupil, Stuart J Price, 34, has recently taken up a new appointment as the reactor physicist at Bradwell Nuclear Power Station, Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex.
