Sergeant sent for jury trial

A BARRY policeman was sent for jury trial on Thursday, December 19, accused of indecently assaulting a colleague.

Sergeant Mark Hobrough, 30, husband of Survivor millionaire Charlotte, is alleged to have groped the woman officer at a nightclub.

The court was told Hobrough touched the WPC "over her clothing on her breast."

He appeared in court almost six months after the incident at a police inspector's leaving party at the Life bar in Cardiff city centre. Hobrough, smartly dressed in a dark suit, pale shirt and tie, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He has pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting the woman on June 20.

Chairman of the bench, John Littlechild, told him: "You will be committed for trial by jury at Cardiff Crown Court."

Hobrough was freed on unconditional bail until his trial on January 13.

Charlotte, who won £1 million as the winner of the Survivor television series, was not in court with her husband.

But Charlotte, dubbed "the Harlot" after a fling on the TV survival island, has pledged to support husband Mark.

Hobrough was accompanied by his solicitor Bodfan Jenkins at Cardiff Magistrates Court. He has been suspended on full pay from the South Wales Police force pending the outcome of the case.

The couple live in a luxury £400,000 house in Sully, bought from Charlotte's £1 million winnings from the 40 days on the island of Pulua Tiga in the South China Sea.

They also bought a Porsche sports car with the prize money.

Charlotte, 27, who met her husband when she was a serving police officer, pledged to patch up her marriage, after millions of television viewers saw her have an affair with one of the 16 contestants on the show. Fellow contestant Adrian Baukham told how the pair sneaked off for passionate romps away from the cameras.

Mark stood by Charlotte after the show, and now Charlotte is standing by her husband. Hobrough refused to make any comment as he left the court hearing.
