Let's unite

I WAS delighted to read in a recent edition of the Barry & District News that a large number of Barry residents have, at long last, realised that unless their views are taken into account, further housing will soon be built on the Knap Pool site.

First we lost Nells Point to housing, then the best dance floor in Wales was lost when the Bindles site was sold. Now the Water's Edge has been sold for housing and unless the people of Barry make their wishes known to all the councillors, the Knap Pool will be lost forever.

Letters have already been written to our MP, EMP and numerous councillors to say how possible it would be to have a smaller heated pool of Olympic dimensions in place of the old pool. With a smaller pool there would be space for an amenities centre containing a restaurant, toilets and maybe an 'other activities' area.

We must all band together to prevent even more houses or flats being built on precious areas of the town. We must encourage tourism for our benefit and get our councillors to do what the majority of the people of Barry want.
